Time period is anchored with text at the beginning
Black and white background signifes evil and good but also there is alot more evil than good. It also signifies the film is going to be serious
Non-diagetic sound in background but nothing is on the screen just black which is narrative enigma

All the flashes could signifies CSI so something has happened to the bodies and the police want to find out about
Flash of decomposed head
The music coincides with the flashes and it adds tension
Flash of hands again
